The problem with MythTV, which I run, is that it can't easily access the encrypted content from one's cable provider. This means I can only get the basic cable channels on NTSC, and the local stations on QAM. That's a lot of my viewing, but it's not everything I watch.

And the cable/satellite providers aren't interested in doing more.

As for eInk, I know the contrast is terrible, but it's actually about as good as a mass market paperback. I don't think about the Kindle as I'm reading, even if I flip a page too soon and have to flip back. I just do it. The Kindle really does disappear when reading.

If a better screen technology can do this as well, I'm all for it.

I know it's a joke, but we don't need flying cars, and they'd be terrible for both energy use and the environment. Not to mention traffic safety, so I won't.

"We’ll have several shipping toolkits that let you target all of the major smartphone OSes: 80%"
===> Flash , sylverlight OK.
I only hope Sun will be part of the game in this area.
Competition is -or will be- good-.

Nice predictions. The location and augmented reality features of software may be more interesting than the social features.

For hardware, I think dedicated, portable GPS devices are going to have a tough time going forward as smartphones get better at performing these functions.
